Emotional Lions Locker Room Scene Unfolds as Dan Campbell and Jared Goff Address Jack Campbell Situation

Emotional scene unfolded inside Detroit Lions locker room Sunday after 19-15 gritty win over previously unbeaten Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field.

Lions LB Jack Campbell suffered terrifying neck injury vs Vikings, carted off after tackle and remained in hospital. Team statement said “indications are positive” per Reuters, but he was being taken care of at hospital.

Following win, head coach Dan Campbell was visibly emotional addressing team:

“I am going to lower this mood a little bit. I do not have any more information on Jack. We don’t know anything else at this point. So here’s what I want to do. We’re gonna take a knee. Now I wanna pray for Jack, okay? And let’s keep him in our thoughts and prayers, man.”

Campbell removed hat and took knee, leading team in moment of prayer for injured teammate. Video cuts as team takes knee and resumes with Campbell asking quarterback Jared Goff to close.

Goff broke down huddle: “I love you boys, stick together. I know that s*** tough with Jack. Stick together, lean on each other. Alright? Win on 3.”

Goff later said: “Jack’s deal was definitely scary. It just brings you back to reality for a moment that he’s a husband and a father. He’s a husband and a father. We’re praying for him and hoping he’s gonna be alright. If I know anyone tough enough to get through something like that, it’s gonna be him.”

Aidan Hutchinson was seen in tears following incident. Goff threw game-winning TD to Jameson Williams with 4:35 to play, but celebration was muted — “It was for 4-6” per Freep, Campbell saying “Everybody wants to know and we can’t really give any answers quite yet, so it’s a little bittersweet.”
