Jared Goff Makes NFL History Despite Lions’ Disappointing 2-2 Start
Jared Goff may not have the win-loss record he wants, but the Detroit Lions quarterback has already accomplished something no other NFL quarterback has done.
Through the first four games of the 2026 season, Goff has become the only quarterback in NFL history to record at least 1,200 passing yards and zero turnovers while playing for a team with a record below .500.
Goff reached the milestone despite Detroit falling to 2-2 following Sunday’s 32-26 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
Goff continues to put up impressive numbers
The Lions quarterback delivered another huge statistical performance against Carolina, throwing for 412 yards and a touchdown.
Although Detroit couldn’t turn his production into a victory, Goff continued his remarkable run of protecting the football while moving the offense downfield.
Through four games, he has recorded 1,214 passing yards and nine touchdowns without throwing an interception.
Sunday was also the first game this season in which Goff failed to throw multiple touchdown passes.
His ability to consistently produce while avoiding turnovers has been one of the biggest positives for Detroit during its uneven start.
Lions need wins to match Goff’s production
While Goff’s individual numbers are impressive, the Lions will need more than statistics as they attempt to get their season back on track.
Detroit is now 2-2 after losses to the Panthers and other early-season competition, and the NFC North is already becoming increasingly competitive.
The Lions’ next opportunity comes in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals, their final game before the Week 6 bye.
For Goff, the goal will be simple: continue playing at a high level while helping Detroit turn its impressive offensive production into victories.
The quarterback has already made NFL history. Now, he’ll be hoping the Lions can make some history of their own by turning their strong start into a successful season.
