Justin Jefferson’s Dominance vs. Lions Faces New Challenge With Brian Branch’s Return

Seeing Detroit on the schedule has always made Justin Jefferson salivate — but Sunday brings a new wrinkle.

In 12 games vs Lions since 2020, Jefferson has 82 catches on 114 targets for 1,285 yards and 5 TDs — the most receptions, targets and yards he’s had against any team. Single-game high 223 yards came at Ford Field in Week 14, 2022. Per SI, Detroit has held him under 60 yards in each of last 3 meetings.

But Lions defense changes with Brian Branch back. Branch returned last week in the 20-17 win over Packers after starting season on PUP with torn left Achilles from Week 14 2024. He tallied 4 tackles and INT vs Jordan Love early 4th quarter, earned 91.1 PFF grade — second-highest Detroit defender behind Aidan Hutchinson (91.5).

Lions currently surrender most total yards per game (391.0), most passing yards (291.8), 7th-most points (27.5). Branch helps cover underneath while Chuck Clark/Bishop Fitzgerald over top — Kerby Joseph unlikely vs chronic knee injury.

Vikings 6-0, lone unbeaten, but offense limited: Jefferson had just one 100-yard game since Oct 5, 2025, zero TDs in last 6 games yet 5th in NFL with 602 yards. Flores will use motion to keep Jefferson opposite Branch to find explosives vs Detroit.
