Vikings’ Aaron Jones Returns to Practice With Knee Injury Before Pivotal Lions Clash

Encouraging news for the 6-0 Vikings before Sunday at Ford Field.

Running back Aaron Jones returned to practice Thursday on a limited basis after missing Wednesday with an aggravated sprained MCL in his left knee. He suffered the setback in the 16-10 win over Indianapolis on Sunday and left early in the 4th quarter.

Jones has been playing through the MCL issue since Week 2. On Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported he is considered day-to-day, with head coach Kevin O’Connell saying: “He’s day to day. He’s doing well. He feels strong. He feels like he’s going to be able to progress and get to a good place on game day.”

Limited return at TCO Performance Center Thursday puts him on track to be active vs Detroit Lions — a pivotal NFC North clash Sunday Nov 1, 1pm FOX. Vikings are allowing just 12.3 ppg (No.1), but need Jones’ versatility vs Lions’ 30.7 ppg offense.
