Detroit Lions’ Chances of Landing Pro Bowl-Level CB Boosted by Week 8 Trade Report

After a 20-17 win over Packers, the Detroit Lions are 4-2 but still have the NFL’s worst pass defense allowing 291.8 yards per game and 16 TD passes.

That has Brad Holmes back on the phones ahead of the Nov 10 trade deadline, and a new Week 8 report says the market is shrinking in Detroit’s favor.

Three names surfaced this week as realistic options:

Charvarius Ward, Colts — The $54M former Pro Bowler. 30 years old, 5 INTs and NFL-leading 23 PDs in 2023 for 49ers, Pro Bowl + 2nd-team All-Pro. Now on 2-5 Colts team that already sold Quenton Nelson and fired GM. Suggested cost: 5th rounder. Under contract through 2027.

Donte Jackson, Chargers — Cheapest fix. Panthers vet, 30yo, extensive starter. One report floated 2027 6th-round pick. Concern: hamstring injury since Week 4 vs Seahawks, not cleared to practice.

Tarheeb Still, Chargers — The youth upside pick. 24, 3rd season, under contract through 2027, 76.6 coverage grade and 93.6 passer rating allowed in 6 games, 4 career INTs. Hypothetical cost: 4th rounder.

Lions have already explored CB help, trying out Trevon Diggs over the weekend and previously being a serious suitor for Joey Porter Jr. before Pittsburgh dealt him to Dallas for a 2nd + 6th.
