Josh Jacobs Responds to Boos From Lions Fans in Return Game at Ford Field
Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs made his return to the field on Sunday against the Detroit Lions, and Detroit fans made their feelings known.
Jacobs missed the first six games of the 2026 season while on the NFL’s Commissioner Exempt List. On Sunday at Ford Field, Lions fans booed him loudly during introductions and throughout the game — the first fan base to react to him in person since his return.
After the game, Jacobs was asked about the reaction and gave a firm response.
“, I don’t care. I’mma hoop,” Jacobs said Tuesday, via The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman. “That’s all I can do. All I can do is control what I can control. I’mma go out there and play ball.”[Expletive]
On the field, Jacobs had an up-and-down return. He ran for 36 yards on 11 carries and added 5 receptions for 55 yards and a touchdown. However, he also had a crucial drop late in the fourth quarter on 3rd-and-5 — a play that would have been a 17-yard go-ahead touchdown. The Packers missed the subsequent field goal.
Jacobs apologized to his teammates after the 20-17 loss, taking responsibility for the drop.
The Packers fell to 4-3 with the loss, while the Lions improved to 4-2 heading into a Week 8 matchup against the undefeated Minnesota Vikings.
