Lions Sign Ex- Cardinals Draft Pick After Jack Campbell Injury

Lions acted quickly after Jack Campbell injury — two moves.

First, signed K.J. Britt (77-game veteran, ex- Tampa 5th-round 2021, ex- Patriots practice squad) to active roster off Patriots practice squad.

Second move was signing linebacker Owen Pappoe to practice squad — Ex- Cardinals draft pick.

Pappoe is 5th-round pick by Arizona Cardinals, 168th overall in 2023 NFL Draft. Notable special teams contributor for first three NFL seasons — despite just two starts, active for every game. 960 career special teams snaps (16 this season), 341 defensive snaps (114 rookie, 131 following, 96 in 2025, zero on defense in 2026). Started 2026 on Titans practice squad, called up for special teams Week 2, released Oct 6, free agent nearly a month before landing with Lions.

With Pappoe in mix, Lions made short-term moves to replace Campbell (remains hospitalized neck injury, preliminary indications positive) and rookie Jimmy Rolder (season-ending hamstring on same play vs Vikings). Joe Bachie likely call-up from practice squad — been with team all year, special teams help. Expected starters vs Dolphins Week 9: Malcolm Rodriguez next to Derrick Barnes, Trevor Nowaske as third LB. Amen Ogbongbemiga, Britt, Bachie serve as backups with special teams value.

Still likely not done — bigger move at LB before Nov 10 trade deadline remains possible.
