Lions Star Hit With $23,417 NFL Fine After Jets Game
Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams has been hit with a significant fine by the NFL following the team’s Week 3 matchup against the New York Jets.
Williams was fined $23,417 for unnecessary roughness involving the use of his helmet.
The penalty stemmed from an incident in the third quarter with 1:53 remaining, resulting in one of the weekend’s larger fines.
The punishment comes as the Lions prepare for an important Week 4 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Detroit enters the game with a 2-1 record and will be looking to continue building momentum as the season progresses.
While Williams certainly won’t be pleased with the size of the fine, the money collected through NFL fines does go toward the Professional Athletes Foundation.
For Williams, however, the message from the league is clear: the incident against the Jets came with a costly price.
