Dan Campbell: ‘How Do You Not Put It In His Hands?’

Dan Campbell doesn’t usually run out of things to say about Jared Goff, but on Monday he may have summed it up best.

Speaking to reporters after the Detroit Lions’ 20-17 win over the Green Bay Packers, Campbell was asked about his quarterback’s performance this season.

“He’s just playing at such a high level, continues to play at such a high level,” Campbell said. “It’s like, how do you not put it in his hands more than we are? I mean, how do you not?”

It’s hard to argue with him.

Through six games in 2026, Goff has thrown for 1,788 yards with 14 touchdowns and zero interceptions. His 298 passing yards per game and 112.5 passer rating both lead the NFL. He is currently the only quarterback in the league with more than five touchdown passes and zero interceptions.

Against Green Bay on Sunday, Goff completed 22 of 32 passes for 303 yards and two touchdowns, his second straight game averaging over nine yards per attempt.

Goff has come a long way from his mid-career slump with the Los Angeles Rams. In Detroit, he has become a three-time Pro Bowler and led the Lions to four straight winning seasons — something no Lions quarterback had done in the Super Bowl era.

Now, as the Lions sit at 4-2 and prepare for a showdown with the undefeated Minnesota Vikings in Week 8, Campbell is making it clear: this is Goff’s team, and he trusts him completely.

The MVP conversation may be starting elsewhere, but in Detroit, Campbell is already making the case.
