Chiefs and Lions Could Solve Each Other’s Biggest Problems With Rare Player Swap
A rare player-for-player swap could make sense at the Oct 31 trade deadline.
Proposal: Lions send WR Isaac TeSlaa → Chiefs, Chiefs send CB Kristian Fulton → Lions.
Why? Chiefs are limping at WR — Rashee Rice out with hamstring since Week 4, Tyquan Thornton ankle injury, forcing Mahomes to play with fringe talents. TeSlaa is 6-4, 214 lbs, RAS 9.93 (29th out of 3816 WRs since 1987), drafted Round 3 Pick 70 in 2025, cheap through 2028, plus a great blocker.
Lions are desperate at CB — D.J. Reed struggled early, injuries to Ennis Rakestraw, Rock Ya-Sin, plus safeties Brian Branch and Avonte Maddox. Fulton is a solid starter with 54 career starts, signed 2-yr $20M in 2025, but stuck as CB3 behind Mansoor Delane and Nohl Williams. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler already linked Fulton to Detroit.
Fulton’s cap: $9.75M base, $5M guaranteed left — needs negotiation, but both sides need to pivot.
