WVU Quarterback Khalil Wilkins to Enter Transfer Portal..

West Virginia quarterback Khalil Wilkins has announced his intention to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal when it officially opens on January 2, 2026, becoming the latest Mountaineer to explore opportunities elsewhere.

Wilkins, a redshirt freshman, shared his decision on social media, expressing gratitude to the West Virginia coaching staff, teammates, and fans while emphasizing his excitement for the next chapter of his collegiate career. He will depart Morgantown with three years of eligibility remaining.

The young quarterback appeared in five games during the 2025 season, including one start. He showcased dual-threat potential, throwing for 185 yards and one touchdown while adding 243 rushing yards and two scores on the ground. Despite flashes of promise, Wilkins found himself in a crowded quarterback room, especially as true freshman Scotty Fox Jr. emerged as the late-season starter.

Wilkins’ departure comes as West Virginia faces a wave of roster movement heading into the offseason, with several players on both sides of the ball signaling portal intentions. The Mountaineers are expected to pursue additional quarterback depth as roster evaluations continue.

Wilkins will now search for a program offering a clearer path to playing time and a system suited to his athletic skill set. His combination of mobility and arm talent is likely to attract interest from multiple teams once the portal window opens.
