Lions Safety Kerby Joseph’s Return to Practice Is Good News for Him and The Team

All-Pro safety Kerby Joseph is back on the field — and feeling nostalgic.

Joseph returned to practice at Meijer Performance Center this week for first time since Week 6 at Kansas City last year, after cartilage condition in knee that limited him to 6 games last season. Lions opened his 21-day practice window Wednesday Oct 28.

“Just being back out there felt nostalgic,” Joseph said Friday. “I haven’t practiced in a long time, so this week felt pretty good. I’m still him. I hope y’all ain’t forget. I’m still him.”

Team easing him: individual and group drills only, no team reps yet per Dan Campbell. “He’s done a good job and it’s good so far… Next week we’ll have him in real practice.” Detroit has until Nov 18 to activate or he stays on PUP and is out for season. Will NOT play Sunday vs undefeated Vikings (6-0) — ESPN’s Mike Garafolo reported Friday out.

Good news for secondary that already got Brian Branch back vs Packers (45 snaps, INT). Joseph led NFL with 20 INTs past five seasons per Freep. Returns with compression sleeve on left leg for first time Thursday, limited participant.

Also: Amon-Ra St. Brown back full after ankle scare (9 catches 153 yards vs Packers), Brian Branch no limitations vs Vikings Sunday.
