Terrion Arnold is reportedly set to join the Seattle Seahawks despite facing eight felony charges stemming from an alleged robbery and kidnapping incident in Florida, according to multiple reports Thursday.
Arnold was arrested on June 24 and was released by the Detroit Lions five days later after authorities connected him to an incident that allegedly occurred in the Tampa-area region in February. The former first-round pick’s legal situation remains unresolved, and his signing with Seattle could prompt the NFL to consider placing him on the commissioner’s exempt list while the case develops.
Despite the serious allegations, several teams reportedly showed interest in Arnold after his release from Detroit. The 23-year-old visited the Seahawks, New York Giants, New Orleans Saints and Houston Texans before ultimately deciding to continue his career in Seattle. Financial details of his reported agreement with the Seahawks have not yet been disclosed.
According to prosecutors, Arnold allegedly played a central role in a scheme intended to retaliate against individuals believed to have stolen more than $250,000 worth of property from an Airbnb in Largo, Florida. Authorities allege that Arnold and his co-conspirators detained and assaulted several people in an attempt to recover the stolen property.
Investigators, however, say the individuals allegedly targeted in the incident were not connected to the original theft. Court documents identify all three alleged kidnapping victims as teenagers, while prosecutors have described Arnold as the primary conspirator in the alleged plot.
Arnold had reportedly notified authorities about the theft three days before the alleged kidnapping and assault. Following his arrest, he was released from Hillsborough County jail after posting a $1 million bond. His release conditions included home confinement, with exceptions for work and legal appointments. A judge ultimately rejected a requirement that he wear a GPS monitoring device.
Arnold entered the NFL as the 24th overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft and spent his first two professional seasons with Detroit. During 24 games, including 22 starts, he recorded 91 tackles, 18 passes defended and one interception. Now, with Seattle reportedly prepared to give him another opportunity, Arnold’s future will depend heavily on both his legal proceedings and any potential disciplinary action from the NFL.
