Tennessee baseball strengthened its roster today by securing a transfer commitment from former Air Force infielder Wyatt Hanoian, who selected the Volunteers over fellow finalists Florida and Ole Miss. His decision marks Tennessee’s third transfer addition of the offseason and provides the program with an experienced and highly regarded middle infielder as it continues preparing for the 2027 campaign.
Hanoian’s arrival comes during a period of significant roster turnover for the Volunteers. To date, 16 Tennessee players have entered the transfer portal, with several already committing to new programs across the country. Despite those departures, the Vols have retained a number of key contributors from last season while actively reinforcing the squad through targeted transfer acquisitions.
The program is also facing changes beyond the transfer portal. Several veteran players have exhausted their collegiate eligibility, while others are projected to pursue professional opportunities through the Major League Baseball Draft. Notably, standout infielder Manny Marin has both MLB aspirations and has entered the transfer portal, highlighting the wide-ranging personnel shifts affecting the roster.
Even with those losses, Tennessee is expected to bring back an important core of returning talent. Players such as Trent Grindlinger, Landon Mack, Cam Appenzeller, Stone Lawless, Levi Clark, Jackson Estes, and Tyler Myatt are among those positioned to provide continuity and leadership, while the futures of a handful of pitchers remain undecided as they weigh their options for next season.
Alongside Hanoian, the Volunteers have already added Mercer two-way standout Braydon Kersey and Northwestern State left-hander Brody Trosclair through the transfer portal. Tennessee has also remained active on the recruiting trail, hosting multiple transfer prospects and assembling a sizable incoming high school class, underscoring the program’s commitment to reshaping its roster and maintaining its competitiveness in the seasons ahead.
