On Thursday afternoon, West Virginia University football officially announced the signing of the majority of their anticipated winter transfer class.
This talented group of transfers will join early enrollees from the Class of 2025 and returning players from last season as they prepare to train under incoming head coach Rich Rodriguez, marking his second tenure with the program.
Of the 31 players who have committed to WVU through the transfer portal, 29 have been officially signed as of this announcement. Notably, edge rusher Keenan Eck (Citrus College) and offensive lineman William Reed (Princeton) are yet to be formally confirmed.
The additions reflect the Mountaineers’ aggressive recruitment strategy, focusing on adding depth and experience to key positions across the roster.
Among the confirmed signees is Ashton Woods, a linebacker from the University of North Carolina, and Braden Siders, a bandit defender from Wyoming. Both players bring high-level experience and versatility that will bolster the Mountaineers’ defensive unit under Rodriguez’s system.
On the offensive side, Cam Vaughn, a wide receiver from Jacksonville State, and Cyrus Traugh, another wideout from Youngstown State, highlight WVU’s effort to provide quarterback depth with reliable targets.
These players are expected to compete for key roles within the team’s receiving corps.
The Mountaineers have also solidified their secondary by signing Derek Carter, a defensive back from Jacksonville State. Carter’s ability to contribute both in coverage and against the run will be an asset as WVU continues to rebuild its defensive backfield.
Linebacker Chase Wilson from Colorado State rounds out a strong group of defensive signings. Known for his tackling ability and instinctive play, Wilson is expected to add significant depth and leadership to WVU’s linebacker unit.
With most of the transfer class now finalized, Coach Rodriguez and his staff are positioned to begin reshaping the roster to fit their vision for the program. The incoming transfers, combined with early enrollees and returning players, create an exciting foundation for the Mountaineers’ future.
As the final pieces of the transfer puzzle fall into place, the team looks forward to spring training, where this diverse group of athletes will work together to elevate West Virginia football back to prominence.
