Veteran point guard Kyle Lowry, who had drawn interest from the Phoenix Suns according to multiple reports, has agreed to return to the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Suns, with 14 of their 15 standard contract roster spots filled, were reportedly aiming to secure Lowry for their final spot. However, operating over the second tax apron limited them to offering Lowry a veteran-minimum contract.
Additionally, several reports indicate that the Suns are still negotiating a potential re-signing of Josh Okogie for this last roster spot.
Following the news about Lowry, John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports reports that he expects the Suns to re-sign Okogie.
Phoenix will now likely rely on newly-signed guard Monte Morris as their backup point guard unless another signing or trade occurs.
Last season, the 38-year-old Lowry averaged 8.1 points, 4.2 assists, and 1.0 steals in 28.2 minutes across 60 games (55 starts) for the Miami Heat and the 76ers.
