A heartbreaking scene unfolded in El Cajon, California, as a 1-year-old girl was found unresponsive inside a home, prompting an active investigation by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Homicide Unit.

The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Emergency crews from the Rancho San Diego Sheriff’s Station and the San Miguel Fire Department responded to a medical emergency at a residence on Penasco Drive, near Jamacha Road and Chase Avenue.

Upon arrival, first responders discovered the infant lying unresponsive on the living room floor. Paramedics performed CPR before rushing the child to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
