Toronto is adding another Nylander to their ranks.
The Toronto Marlies have signed forward Alex Nylander to a one-year AHL contract, as announced on Sunday.
Alex, 26, is the younger sibling of Maple Leafs star William Nylander. Last season, he divided his time between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Columbus Blue Jackets.
In the NHL, he recorded 11 goals and four assists over 28 games. He also contributed 17 goals and 15 assists with the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Throughout his seven-year NHL career, Nylander has accumulated 25 goals and 24 assists in 121 games. He was drafted eighth overall by the Buffalo Sabres in 2016.
Since this is not a two-way contract, Alex Nylander won’t have the opportunity to join the Maple Leafs unless they offer him an NHL deal.
