Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Calvin Austin III was ruled out due to a head injury midway through the third quarter of Sunday’s 44-38
victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. Austin sustained the injury after making a 6-yard
reception from Russell Wilson and being tackled by Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt in the
final moments of the second quarter. His helmet made significant contact with the turf during the
play. Earlier in the game, Austin was also hit hard by Bengals linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither on
the Steelers’ first offensive play, although Davis-Gaither was penalized for pass interference on the play.
Austin had returned for the next series and finished the game with two catches on two
targets for 29 yards, including a 23-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter.
