BREAKING NEWS:Shooting That Wounded Broncos’ Josh Reynolds Was “Coordinated” Attack, With 30 Rounds Fired Into SUV, DA Says

Denver, CO – December 20, 2024 – A shooting that injured Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds earlier this week was described as a “coordinated” attack, with authorities confirming that at least 30 rounds were fired into his SUV, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

Reynolds, who was in the vehicle at the time of the attack, was struck and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The incident took place on the evening of December 18th, when Reynolds was traveling through a residential area in Denver. Authorities say the gunfire appeared to be a targeted assault, with multiple suspects involved in the ambush.

The DA’s office emphasized that the level of gunfire and the apparent planning involved in the attack suggest a deliberate attempt to harm Reynolds. Surveillance footage from the area shows two vehicles involved in the shooting, with one vehicle reportedly driving alongside Reynolds’ SUV while the other followed from a distance. The suspects fired at least 30 rounds, hitting the vehicle multiple times before fleeing the scene.

“We believe this was a calculated and targeted attack, and we are pursuing all leads to identify the suspects responsible,” said District Attorney Michael Williams in a press release. “The actions of the perpetrators were reckless and dangerous, and we will work tirelessly to bring them to justice.”

Reynolds, 27, was immediately transported to a nearby hospital following the shooting, where he was treated for his injuries and later released. His injuries are not considered life-threatening, though the incident has left the Broncos’ organization shaken.

Broncos head coach Sean Payton expressed relief that Reynolds was not more seriously hurt but acknowledged the severity of the situation. “Our thoughts are with Josh, and we are thankful he’s doing well,” Payton said. “This is a frightening incident for everyone involved, and we’re fully supportive of the ongoing investigation.”

The shooting is under active investigation by local law enforcement, and authorities are calling for any witnesses or individuals with information about the incident to come forward. They are also reviewing nearby security cameras and other potential evidence to piece together a clearer picture of the attack.

As the investigation unfolds, the DA’s office has warned the public about the risks of escalating violence and the devastating consequences of such targeted assaults. “We must ensure that our streets are safe and that those who commit violent crimes are held accountable,” Williams said.

The Broncos organization has also pledged full cooperation with law enforcement as the investigation continues, and Reynolds’ team is expected to make a statement regarding his recovery in the coming days.

The DA’s office is urging anyone with information to contact the Denver Police Department’s tip line or the local Crime Stoppers organization.
