Max Biaggi: Former World Champion Seriously Injured in Supermoto Crash
Legendary motorcycle racer Max Biaggi, a four-time 250cc World Champion and two-time Superbike World Champion, suffered serious injuries in a crash while riding a Supermoto bike. The accident occurred in June 2017 near Rome during a training session at the Sagittario track in Latina, Italy. Biaggi, known for his fierce competitiveness and skill on the track, was immediately rushed to the hospital after the crash.
Doctors reported that Biaggi sustained several broken ribs and a fractured collarbone, though he fortunately avoided any spinal or head injuries. Despite the severity of the crash, Biaggi remained conscious throughout the ordeal. He was placed in intensive care for several days as a precaution and underwent surgery to stabilize his injuries.
Biaggi’s partner, singer Bianca Atzei, and family were by his side during his recovery. Following the accident, Biaggi expressed gratitude to the medical staff and fans for their support. “I’ve been through many battles in my career, but this is a tough one,” he said.
Though Biaggi retired from competitive racing in 2012, he has remained active in the motorcycle world as a mentor and team manager. The crash was a reminder of the inherent risks involved in motorsport, even for veteran riders like Biaggi. Fortunately, he made a full recovery and continues to inspire riders both on and off the track.
