Jarrod Wade, the Head of High-Performance at Collingwood, has given an update on injuries and health ahead of Friday night’s Round 18 match between the Magpies and Geelong at the MCG.
Cameron Darcy
Darcy Cameron, who had a blow to the ribs during the Pies’ Round 17 encounter against Essendon, will be eligible to play against Geelong on Friday night.
After the game, Cameron was sent to the hospital as a precaution and was found to have no significant injuries.
Howe, Jeremy
Jeremy Howe became conscious of his hamstrings throughout today’s workout.
The 34-year-old had a precautionary scan and was found to be in good health. He is expected to be available for the Geelong game on Friday night.
Jamie Elliott
Jamie Elliott’s recuperation from a vascular problem is going nicely.
He has raised his running loads throughout a three-week training block and received clearance to begin full contact training.
Elliott’s availability for Friday night’s game will be determined by his completion of training on Wednesday.
Markov, Oleg
Oleg Markov, who had a mild adductor strain during Collingwood’s Round 17 contest, will be evaluated prior to Friday night’s play.
Markov was hurt in the first few minutes of the game on Friday, and after the game, he complained of soreness and was sent for a precautionary scan.
Early in the week, the 28-year-old hopes to finish straight line running. If he wants to play on Friday night, he has to make it through Wednesday’s primary session.
John A. Noble
John Noble, who took a blow to the head during a marking contest during Collingwood’s Round 16 encounter against the Gold Coast SUNS, is still making progress via the AFL’s concussion procedures.
Since the event, the 27-year-old has not experienced any symptoms and no impairments.
Noble is anticipated to be eligible for selection for Friday night’s game by the Club.
Quaynor, Isaac
Prior to Friday night’s game, Isaac Quaynor will undergo evaluation following his toe injury sustained during the Pies’ Round 17 contest.
During the game, Quaynor jammed his toe and was unable to run as hard as he could. He couldn’t work out today.
The 24-year-old’s availability for Friday night’s game will be determined by an evaluation on Wednesday during training.
