The resignation of head coach Scott Milanovich on Friday resulted in a twofold increase in the Toronto Argonauts’ off-season employment search.
In order to take a position coaching quarterbacks with the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars, Milanovich resigned. Milanovich’s choice was made just three days after Jim Barker, the Argos’ general manager for six seasons, was let go.”We applaud Scott’s choice to pursue his objectives in the NFL and hope he succeeds in his new position,” the Argos’ president and CEO, Michael Copeland, said in a statement. We’ve made great strides toward hiring the next general manager of Argos. We anticipate wrapping up the search process soon.
In December 2011, Milanovich received his first head coaching position in the CFL when Barker hired him. Although he guided the Argos to a Grey Cup triumph in 2012, the team’s 5-13 record in 2016 placed them last in the East Division and prevented them from making the playoffs.
In a statement, Jaguars executive vice-president of football operations Tom Coughlin said, “Scott Milanovich brings a variety of experience to our coaching staff, and we are eager for him to get started.” “Working closely with offensive co-ordinator Nathaniel Hackett, we expect the quarterback position to deliver positive results under Scott’s direction and guidance.”
