RANGERS COACH BLAMED OVER 2-0 LOSS TO LEVANTE

Rangers lost their final pre-season match this evening, falling 2-0 to a skilled Levante team in the sweltering heat of Spain.

The game concluded Rangers’ pre-season training camp in southeastern Spain, with the team now focusing on their league opener against Aberdeen next weekend. Levante’s Ivonne Chacon scored both goals in the first half, giving the Spanish side control.

Rangers showed improvement in the second half but couldn’t convert their chances. New signings Leah Eddie, Liv McLoughlin, and Katie Wilkinson all started for Rangers. Levante took the lead early when Chacon converted a rebound after initially being denied by Jenna Fife. Chacon doubled the lead after a water break by breaking away from the Rangers defense and scoring past Fife.

Rangers had a chance to pull one back before halftime when Kirsty Howat got past the Levante defense, but her shot was saved and hit the post. The introduction of Rio Hardy and Brogan Hay in the second half energized the visitors. Hardy linked with Howat but saw her shot saved by the goalkeeper. Hardy had another chance later but again shot straight at the keeper. McLoughlin also missed a chance from the edge of the penalty area.

Despite continued efforts, including substitutions May Cruft, Lily Boyce, and Sophie Black, Rangers couldn’t find the net. Levante held firm to secure victory in a tough pre-season test for Rangers.
