Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer announced on Monday that linebacker Que Robinson will miss the remainder of the season due to an elbow injury sustained during Saturday’s 42-13 victory over LSU.
DeBoer also confirmed that reserve linebacker Keanu Koht has been suspended indefinitely after failing to make the trip to Baton Rouge.
The loss of Robinson, a 6-foot-5, 241-pound redshirt senior, is a significant blow to Alabama’s defense, which has been dominant in recent weeks, allowing just one touchdown in victories over LSU and Missouri. Robinson ranks tied for the team lead in sacks with four, and is second in tackles for loss (seven) and quarterback hurries (five).
“Que is a special person in every sense,” DeBoer said. “He gives so much to this program, not just on the field, but off it as well. He’s a leader, always mentoring younger players and showing them what it means to care about this team and this university. It’s tough to see him go through this.”
With Robinson sidelined, redshirt freshmen Qua Russaw and Yhonzae Pierre are expected to take on larger roles at outside linebacker.
Defensive coordinator Kane Wommack emphasized the importance of players stepping up during these critical moments. “As the season progresses, these are the defining opportunities,” Wommack said. “How players respond in these situations will ultimately shape our success in the second half of the season.”
