Phillies Rookie, Weston Wilson Awarded Huge Sum After Historic Cycle Achievement

After striking out to start the game, Weston Wilson became the first rookie in Philadelphia Phillies history to bat for the cycle during a 4–0 drubbing of the Washington Nationals.

With a double in the eighth inning of Thursday’s 13-3 victory at Citizens Bank Park, Wilson completed the cycle.

Wilson told reporters, “I think it’s a testament to perseverance, staying with everything,” MLB.com reports. “My first game was against them last year, and it hasn’t been easy.

“To have that moment last year and this one, it’s really cool.”
Wilson, 29, scored three runs and had an RBI while going 4 for 5. With the single, double, triple, and home run effort, he improved his season average from.273 to.342. In 16 games, he has only had 38 at-bats.
Alec Bohm, a third baseman for the Phillies, lit up the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning with a three-run home run. Two pitches later, Phillies right fielder Nick Castellanos smashed another home run.
