PHILIPPE CLEMENT EXIT CAME SO EARLY

Philippe Clement, 49, brings extensive experience as both a player and coach to his new role at Ibrox, with a proven track record of winning league titles.

As a player, Clement won championships with Genk and Club Brugge, earned 38 caps for Belgium, played in the 1998 World Cup, and was part of the Euro 2000 squad. He also has experience in British football from his time with Coventry City.

In management, Clement has achieved significant success, winning the Belgian Pro League three consecutive times—first with Genk, then twice with Club Brugge from 2019 to 2021. His tenure at Club Brugge included several years of Champions League Group Stage experience, with two campaigns advancing to the Europa League knockout stages.

Clement’s stint with Monaco saw him take over a ninth-placed Ligue 1 team and guide them to a top-three finish in his first season.

He now begins a three-and-a-half-year contract as the 19th manager of Rangers FC, pending a work permit.

Upon his appointment, Clement expressed his honor and excitement, stating, “I am honored to be appointed as the new manager of Rangers Football Club and thank the board for this opportunity. I look forward to meeting the players and supporters as we aim to create a successful, winning Rangers.”

Rangers Chairman, John Bennett, congratulated Clement and highlighted the thorough recruitment process led by CEO James Bisgrove, board members, and former player-manager Graeme Souness. He noted that several high-caliber candidates were interviewed and vetted over the past 10 days. The new management team will meet the men’s first-team squad on Monday, marking the beginning of a new era at Rangers.
