Guerschon Yabusele, a forward for Real Madrid, is almost ready to go back to the NBA. Yabusele is “in serious talks” to join the Philadelphia 76ers and leave the Blancos, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Yabusele’s Real Madrid contract has a 2.5 million buyout clause, which the French forward plans to use to sign with the Sixers. He will return to the NBA following his 2017–2019 season with the Boston Celtics if the trade is completed.
With a stellar performance of 14.0 points and 3.3 rebounds at the 2024 Olympic Games, the 28-year-old Yabusele helped France capture the silver medal. He scored 19.6 points and pulled down 4.6 rebounds in games against Canada, Germany, and Team during the elimination stages, making him perhaps the best player on his national team USA in the semifinal, final, and quarterfinals, in that order.
NBA teams, including the Sixers, were drawn to Yabusele’s performances and are now likely to acquire him.
Yabusele played with Real Madrid for the previous three seasons, during which he made a name for himself as a top attacker in the EuroLeague. He won the 2023 EuroLeague championship, the 2022 and 2024 ACB titles, and the 2021, 2022, and 2023 SuperCup medals with the Spanish powerhouse.
