The Ole Miss Rebels are looking to reinforce their wide receiver depth after recent departures to the transfer portal, with former West Virginia wideout Traylon Ray emerging as a key target. According to On3, Ray visited the program on Wednesday, signaling a potential addition to the Rebels’ receiving unit.
Ray, a 6-foot-2 receiver from North Florida Christian (Tallahassee, Fla.), spent two seasons at West Virginia before entering the portal. In 2024, he appeared in 10 games, catching 28 passes for 426 yards and four touchdowns, despite his season being cut short due to an injury in November that required surgery. As a former four-star recruit in the 2023 class, Ray was ranked as the No. 54 wide receiver nationally and chose the Mountaineers over offers from programs like Florida State, Florida, and Miami.
The Rebels’ interest in Ray follows the losses of receivers Ayden Williams and Noreel White to the portal, along with key contributors Tre Harris, Jordan Watkins, and Juice Wells, who declared for the NFL Draft. The departures have left Ole Miss seeking experienced playmakers to maintain their offensive firepower.
If Ole Miss secures Ray, he would join a strong group of transfer pass catchers, including Caleb Odom (Alabama), De’Zhaun Stribling (Oklahoma State), and Deuce Alexander (Wake Forest), who have already committed to the Rebels this offseason. Despite Ray’s injury, his production and potential make him a compelling addition to the roster as the program looks to rebuild its wide receiver depth.
Ray’s decision could play a critical role in shaping Ole Miss’s offense for the upcoming season as the Rebels aim to remain competitive in the SEC.
