Mikaela Shiffrin tears up as her fiancé Aleksander Kilde takes to the skies for the first time following an injury sustained during the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup 2023–2024. Mikaela Shiffrin broke down in tears when she saw her fiancé, Aleksander Kilde, go back to the slopes following a serious downhill accident.
On Sunday, January 14, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde shared a picture of himself and his partner Mikaela Shiffrin by his hospital bed on social media, the morning after his major fall near the bottom of the Wengen downhill.
During the Lauberhorn test on Saturday, the Norwegian speed ace lost control on the last bend and was launched into the safety netting just before the finish line.
Kilde was transported by plane to Interlaken Hospital and then to Bern for surgery.
Shiffrin was eager to pay a visit after missing this weekend’s women’s FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup races in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee because of a cold.
Alexander suffered a cut to his calf and a dislocated shoulder, according to a statement released by the FIS and the Norwegian team doctor, Marc Jacob Strauss. He’s bruised but does not have any fractures.”
Due to an anterior cruciate ligament rupture, French player Alexis Pinturault was declared out for the remainder of the season on Friday.
Kilde posted a photo along with the caption, “I’m here (and getting cared for by the one and only Mikaela Shiffrin)… Even though this sport might be cruel, I still adore it.”
