Verstappen Bemoans ‘Really Bad’ Qualifying in Monza
Max Verstappen expressed frustration after a challenging qualifying session at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, labeling it as “really bad.” The Red Bull driver, who has dominated the season with multiple wins, struggled to find pace on the high-speed Monza circuit, which is notoriously tough for drivers and teams alike.
Verstappen’s car setup appeared off the mark, leading to difficulties in maintaining optimal speed on the track’s long straights and tight corners. Despite efforts to adjust, he was unable to challenge for pole position, ultimately starting further down the grid than expected. The Dutchman voiced his disappointment, admitting that the team couldn’t get the car in the right window during the crucial laps of Q3.
“It was a really bad session for us,” Verstappen said post-qualifying. “The car just didn’t feel right, and we couldn’t extract the performance we know is there. We’ve got some work to do ahead of the race.”
Looking ahead to the race, Verstappen remains hopeful but acknowledges that a strong start and strategy will be crucial to salvaging a good result. Despite the setback, he’s determined to fight his way up the order and minimize the impact of the disappointing qualifying on his championship lead.
