Max Verstappen appoints new coach sacks former

Christian Horner maintains that Max Verstappen will not alter his approach, as he continues to support his driver following the clash with Lando Norris at the Austrian Grand Prix last weekend.

The reigning world champion received a 10-second penalty for the incident on lap 64, where the two drivers collided while battling for the lead. This collision allowed Mercedes’ George Russell to seize victory.

Speaking at Red Bull Racing headquarters in Milton Keynes before the British Grand Prix, team principal Christian Horner supported Max Verstappen’s approach and anticipated more intense racing between Verstappen and McLaren rival Lando Norris.

“I understand they’ve spoken already, and I don’t think there’s any issue,” Horner told Sky Sports News. “Certainly, from Max’s side, he’s not going to change.

“There’s an element of Lando learning how to race Max, and they’re figuring that out. Inevitably, there will be more close racing between them as the cars are very competitive in the upcoming races. Max is a hard racer—probably one of the toughest on the circuit—and everyone knows that if you’re going to race against Max, he’s going to match your intensity.”

McLaren principal Andrea Stella criticized Verstappen after the clash at the Red Bull Ring, which resulted in Verstappen finishing fifth and ended Norris’ race.
