One of the more interesting episodes of Break Point’s upcoming season, which premieres on Netflix on Wednesday, follows Greek actress Maria Sakkari as she navigates a difficult 2023.
After an early exit at the US Open the previous year, former world No. 3 Sakkari broke down in tears at her press conference as it became evident that she was finding it difficult to handle the stress of competing at the greatest level of the sport.
As they rehearse at Wimbledon last summer, Sakkari and Anett Kontaveit are seen speaking at the start of the raw tape.
After discussing Kontaveit’s decision to give up tennis, the video shifts to Sakkari discussing her own anxiousness and considering whether her life would be better without tennis.
“It’s a brutal sport, tennis,” Sakkari started.
“Everything was going really well last year. reaching the third spot, but after that, things started to become worse. I went a little insane.
