Liam Gallagher has long been known for his unpredictable antics, and one of his most bizarre adventures involves The Stone Roses,
espionage, and a combine harvester. While recording Oasis’s Definitely Maybe in the 1990s, Gallagher and a friend learned that The Stone
Roses were working on their new album nearby, at a studio in Monmouthshire, South Wales. The pair decided to investigate.
“We wanted to see what the hell they were up to,” Gallagher recalled. “They hadn’t released anything in three years. So we drove over in a
massive combine harvester – the kind you need a ladder to climb into – with the lights on full beam. It must’ve looked ridiculous.”
After sneaking up to the studio, the duo turned off the lights and approached covertly, feeling like characters from The Professionals. Inside,
they could hear basslines and drums, but were soon caught. Gallagher admitted they had a brief chat with the band, shared a spliff, and then left without further incident.
