Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant missed Team USA’s exhibition game against Canada last Wednesday due to a lower-body issue and is unlikely to participate in the upcoming pre-Olympics game against Australia this Monday, as he continues to manage a calf injury.
However, new Suns head coach Mike Budenholzer isn’t overly worried about Durant’s injury, expressing confidence in the future Hall of Famer’s health as Team USA gears up for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Will Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns play before the 2024 Paris Olympics?
At 35 years old, Durant remains one of the most formidable offensive players in basketball. Last season, he averaged 27.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game, shooting 52.3 percent from the field with a 58.1 effective field goal percentage.
If Durant misses the game against Australia, he still has several opportunities to play before Team USA begins their defense of the gold medal they won at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Team USA is scheduled to play Serbia on July 17 and South Sudan on July 20. Their final tuneup game will be against Germany, the reigning FIBA World Cup champions, on July 22.
