After a month-long Olympic break, the Las Vegas Aces, who have won the WNBA for the past two years, will play New York Liberty to start their league campaign today. Though they have players like A’ja Wilson who will play a significant role in their quest for a three-peat, what about their rookie, Kate Martin? Due to an injury that she sustained last month, there were concerns about whether she would be fit for the season to resume. However, following recent updates from head coach Becky Hammon, the picture is very obvious.
A reporter for the Aces tweeted that shortly before the Liberty game, Becky Hammon made Kate Martin’s status public. “Becky Hammon just said that Kate Martin looks good and doesn’t have any restrictions in her pregame news conference,” the tweet stated. She was just given the same amount of rest as the other members of the team. The 24-year-old youngster was also observed taking part in the team’s practice earlier.
