No matter how many times you visit the White House, it always has a certain allure.
The visit between Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy and President Biden on the South Lawn on Thursday at 3 p.m. (CT) (televised on C-SPAN) will be Bochy’s fourth formal appearance as a World Series winner.
Bochy said, “It’s a symbol of the success you achieved the previous year.” He will take part in a ceremony with the President, as will players, employees, and front office personnel. “Being the World Series champion is an enduring gift.” The White House is given to you on a tour. For the squad, it’s a wonderful and historic event. It’s exclusive to one team to experience.
Bochy previously won the World Series with the San Francisco Giants in 2010, 2012, and 2014, and had similar visits with former President Barack Obama each time.
Bochy’s most cherished memory remains his first visit in 2011.
“Experiencing it as part of baseball tradition and winning the World Series was incredibly special,” he said. “Having a chat with President Obama about baseball and sports was really cool.”
Bochy humorously noted that their conversation stayed light. “We didn’t delve into major global issues,” he joked.
