Ja Morant Reflects on Injury-Plagued Season Amid Return to Form…

Memphis, TN – Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant recently opened up about the challenges of his injury-ridden 2024-25 season as he works to regain his rhythm on the court.

Following a standout performance in the team’s recent victory over the Dallas Mavericks, where he recorded 31 points and eight assists on 13-29 shooting, Morant expressed optimism about his progress. The 25-year-old guard, who has struggled with consistency this season, is averaging 21.2 points and 7.4 assists per game while posting shooting splits of 43.2% from the field, 28.2% from three, and 83.8% from the free-throw line. Having missed 24 games this season after playing only nine in 2023-24, Morant acknowledged the difficulties of returning from injury.

“A little bit of Ja, the old Ja,” Morant told ESPN’s Tim MacMahon after his performance in Dallas. “It was nice to see some baskets go down. Obviously, it’s kind of what I’m used to.”

Morant also addressed the physical and mental challenges that come with playing through injuries.

“Fouls, getting hurt, that plays a lot,” he said. “Makes you move different, makes you think different. But I’m out there, so just trying to find a way.”

While Morant has adjusted his style of play this season to prioritize his health, his presence on the court remains crucial for the Grizzlies. As Memphis continues its push for success, the team’s hopes remain closely tied to Morant’s availability and ability to recapture his dynamic form.
