Romanian publication Sport pe Surse claims Fiorentina has agreed to personal terms with Hagi ahead of a potential move. However, it is unclear if the Italian club is willing to pay the €3.5m (£3m) that Rangers are hoping to recoup for the player.
Hagi played for Fiorentina as a teenager, joining the Serie A side from Viitorul Constanța as a 17-year-old in 2016 and spending two seasons with the club. Farul Constanta president Gică Popescu, who has links to the Hagi family, was asked about the interest by Sport pe Surse but did not provide much information.
“If I knew, I wouldn’t tell you,” said Popescu. “I don’t think you should talk to me, but to Ianis. So you should talk to him, maybe from tomorrow onwards.”
Rangers have been open about needing to recoup transfer fees to facilitate their own business this summer. Ianis Hagi, who is contracted to the club until 2026, is considered a sellable asset and has a substantial salary of €1m (£850k) per year, or £16k per week.
