One of the hottest topics among Miami Heat fans is whether Tyler Herro should be moved to the bench. Coach Erik Spoelstra has yet to make any changes, and Herro has started all but two games over the last two seasons since moving into the starting lineup after his Sixth Man of the Year award in 2021-22.
However, there might be reasons to reconsider Herro’s role. The Heat have a 44-37 record in games where Herro starts alongside Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. Despite their time together, the chemistry between this trio hasn’t fully developed. If it hasn’t improved by now, it’s worth questioning if it ever will.
If Spoelstra decides to shift Herro to the bench, the key question is who would take his place. Duncan Robinson is a strong candidate. Robinson seems to have better chemistry with Butler and Adebayo, as noted by Udonis Haslem, who suggested Robinson for the starting lineup on ESPN’s First Take.
Haslem argued that Robinson’s ability to spread the floor with his shooting would benefit the starting lineup, allowing Herro to focus on scoring with the second unit. Robinson’s quick shot and movement create space for Butler and Adebayo, making him a logical choice to start if the goal is to maintain effective spacing.
