We are happy to announce Charlie Horlock, a 29-year-old goalie, has joined our team.
Charlie joins after previously joining the Hertfordshire club in November 2014 and playing a total of 273 games for Southern League side Hitchin Town in two stints.
He had stints at Stevenage, Harrow Borough, and Hendon before to beginning his career at Wycombe Wanderers. Horlock relocated to Hitchin, where he played 87 games on loan at first. Charlie moved to Eastbourne Borough after two seasons, where he stayed for a year until joining Hastings United in late 2017. Horlock spent the 2019–20 season back at Hitchin, where he stayed until the completion of the 2023–2024 campaign.
Charlie, a PE teacher in Wycombe who resides there, also succeeded in to score his first goal of the season in November of last year, helping Hitchin upset Halesowen Town while also making a late penalty save.
Upon obtaining Charlie’s signing, manager Scott Davies expressed his excitement, saying, “We’re thrilled to have Charlie join our team. I’ve known Charlie for a very long time, and he’s a player that is well regarded both personally and professionally.
He comes with a wealth of experience from his nearly 300 games played at Step 3 with Hitchin Town, and he will give Hugo Sobte some serious competition in the goalkeeping circle.
“Bringing Charlie to the club looks like a wonderful fit because he lives nearby and is 29 years old. We gave the credit market some thought, but we think We can select between two keepers who are more than capable.
Charlie sent out the following statement to supporters: “I immediately put Slough at the top of my list and made it a priority as soon as it became a viable choice to sign for.
“I live nearby, and I’ve been following Slough for a while now. I can see the club is growing, so who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?
“Since taking a closer look at the group, I have only heard positive things about the members. Being surrounded by kind people is really important to me, and I hope that I can only make that better.
“I’ll give the club my all attention. As I play, I attempt tomust be trustworthy, dependable, and constant. And over a period of years, I hope to stabilize the club’s No. 1 shirt.
“I’m excited to meet you all!”
