Giants officially signs another chargers RB

The back end of the New York Giants’ 90-man roster has been the subject of constant tweaking over the last week, and this trend persisted on Thursday.

Joshua Kelley has been signed by the team, according to head coach Brian Daboll.

The Los Angeles Chargers selected the 26-year-old Kelly in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL draft. He played in 54 games with the organization, making four starts.

Kelly averaged 3.6 yards per carry while running for 1,148 yards and six touchdowns during his four-year career. In addition, he caught 50 passes for 319 yards.

Kelly was not only a prolific offensive player but also a versatile special teams player who could return kickoffs, albeit he was not very good at it.

The Giants placed safety Elijah Riley on injured reserve (IR) in a related roster move. If there is no injury settlement reached by both parties, he will miss the entire season.

They were the last of several days’ worth of moves.

Even though it’s unlikely that several of these guys will make the first 53-man roster, they might be added to the practice squad.
