ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia freshman Nate Frazier delivered the decisive blow in an epic showdown at Sanford Stadium,
sprinting 3 yards for a 2-point conversion in the eighth overtime to secure a dramatic 44-42 victory for the No. 7 Bulldogs over rival Georgia Tech. The game,
the longest in SEC history, captivated fans with its relentless intensity and unforgettable moments under the Friday night lights.
The Yellow Jackets had the first possession in the final overtime but faltered as quarterback Haynes King,
under heavy pressure from linebacker CJ Allen, launched a pass that sailed out of the back of the end zone.
Sensing the opportunity to end the contest, Georgia wasted no time. Nate Frazier took the handoff, charged through the middle, and crossed the line to ignite the Sanford Stadium crowd into jubilant celebration.
“People were getting worn down,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart admitted after the game.
“People were getting tired. We weren’t getting open. That kid’s got an electric ability to hit the hole hard. I guess we blocked it right because it hit up in there.”
The victory not only solidified Georgia’s playoff hopes but also etched this game into the annals of SEC history as a testament to the team’s endurance and determination.
