Foxwell’s mentorship of recent Phoenix hires

Foxwell’s guiding hand to new Phoenix signings

Even though Owen Foxwell is only 20 years old, the rising point guard thinks his length of time with the South East Melbourne Phoenix will help him become his teammates’ go-to man come NBL25.

While the likes of new signings Derrick Walton Jr and Nathan Sobey have huge experience across the NBL and abroad, Foxwell hopes he can make the transition to the club easier for his team’s raft of new signings.

“As far as the club and the team I kind of want to be, I wouldn’t say a leader in a way, but I’m the one that’s been around here a lot recently,” Foxwell told Phoenix Media.

“Sobey has proven himself over the many years he’s been in the league, as you are aware of his accomplishments. Upon signing Derrick, I was rather thrilled to have someone who had experienced it all and performed at the top level—someone I could look up to and learn a lot from.

“I can serve as a guide for guys who are new to the club because I am aware of what goes on there.”
