Charlotte Hornets President of Basketball Operations Jeff Peterson announced today that the team has re-signed forward Miles Bridges. As per team policy, the terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Last season, Bridges played in 69 games (67 starts) and achieved career highs in several categories, including points (21.0), field goals (8.1), 3-pointers (2.3), 2-pointers (5.8), defensive rebounds (6.3), and total rebounds (7.3). He was one of only 13 NBA players to average at least 21.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game last season. Bridges led the Hornets in scoring 26 times and tied for the team lead with 19 double-doubles.
Bridges scored a career-high 45 points, along with eight rebounds and seven assists against Toronto on February 7, joining Kemba Walker as the only players in franchise history to record 45 points, five rebounds, and five assists in a game. He also achieved 30 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists against Chicago on January 31, becoming the first Hornet to meet those marks in a single game.
Over his five-season career, Bridges has averaged 14.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 360 games (255 starts). He ranks eighth in franchise history in points (5,342), seventh in field goals (2,024), fifth in 3-pointers (591), third in 2-point percentage (.550), eighth in defensive rebounds (1,749), and 10th in minutes played (11,041).
The Hornets originally acquired Bridges in a draft night trade after he was selected 12th overall in the first round of the 2018 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers.
