Carlos Alcaraz, 21, is thrilled to be partnering with his idol Rafael Nadal for the doubles event and envisions it as a fairytale ending. He says he hopes Nadal would impart some of his wisdom to him during this year’s Olympics in Paris.
Alcaraz will be competing in his first Olympics when the Paris Olympics begin on July 26. He recently celebrated his birthday in May. Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal, who is competing in his final Olympics, will both compete in the men’s event, the Spanish team formally stated last week.
It was widely speculated for more than a year that Alcaraz and Nadal were trying to put together a doubles squad for the Olympics in Paris. It appears that Alcaraz and Nadal will soon share a portion of the court. The issue is that, although Nadal and Marc Lopez won an Olympic gold medal in 2016, Alcaraz seldom ever plays doubles; in fact, he hasn’t competed in the sport in the past two years.

Many are also interested to see how Alcaraz and Nadal will appear when they play doubles on the court together because it’s unlikely that they will participate in any warm-up doubles competitions.
“To be honest, I never expected to play doubles with Rafa in the Olympics. It’s a special occasion for me, and I’m naturally thrilled about it. In his pre-tournament press conference at the Queen’s Club, Alcaraz said, “Let’s see how it goes, but it’s going to be a great time.”
In all honesty, I think he will teach me how to handle everything. I’m the young man who has to mature both personally and as a gamer. Naturally, it is going to be my first Olympic Games. Everything is new for me, so I hope to learn a lot from him.”
