West Virginia University has added a dynamic playmaker to its roster as Jacksonville State wide receiver Cam Vaughn has committed to the Mountaineers, according to A&P Sports Agency.
Vaughn, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound rising redshirt sophomore, brings versatility and untapped potential to WVU. Originally a high school quarterback, Vaughn transitioned to wide receiver in 2023 under current WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez at Jacksonville State.
After a quiet start to his collegiate career, Vaughn had a breakout season in 2024, leading Jacksonville State in receptions (49), receiving yards (804), and touchdowns (5). His performance showcased his ability to stretch the field and make big plays, earning him a prominent role in the offense.
A native of Temple, Georgia, Vaughn offers WVU a blend of size, athleticism, and experience at the wide receiver position. With three years of eligibility remaining, he has the potential to become a cornerstone of the Mountaineers’ passing attack in the coming seasons.
Vaughn’s familiarity with Rodriguez’s system is expected to ease his transition to Morgantown, allowing him to contribute immediately. His addition strengthens WVU’s wide receiver room, which is looking to replace key contributors ahead of the 2025 season.
The move signals Rodriguez’s commitment to recruiting players he has coached and developed, ensuring a smooth integration into his offensive schemes. Vaughn’s breakout 2024 season under Rodriguez is a testament to his growth and potential as a playmaker.
As Vaughn joins the Mountaineers, WVU fans can look forward to seeing his impact on the field as he looks to build on his strong 2024 campaign.
