Brian Robinson Jr. Ruled Out for Week 10: What Does His Absence Mean for the Future?

Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. has been ruled out for the team’s Week 10 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Robinson, who leads the team in both rushing yards (461) and rushing touchdowns (6), has struggled with injuries this season, missing Week 6 with a knee issue and last week’s win over the New York Giants due to a hamstring injury. Although he participated in practice on Wednesday and Thursday, Robinson did not practice on Friday, leading to his exclusion from Sunday’s game.

In Robinson’s absence, the Commanders relied on a running back-by-committee approach in their Week 9 win over the Giants, with Jayden Daniels, Austin Ekeler, Jeremy McNichols, and Chris Rodriguez Jr. contributing to a 149-yard rushing performance. Rodriguez led the group with 52 yards on 11 carries. Washington is expected to use a similar strategy in Week 10, but the Pittsburgh Steelers present a tougher challenge. Pittsburgh has been strong against the run, allowing just 90.5 yards per game—ranking fourth in the league—and has held opponents under 100 yards in all but three games this season.

The Commanders are also facing potential roster challenges, as Rodriguez has already been elevated from the practice squad three times this season. If needed on Sunday, Washington will have to make a corresponding roster move to add him to the active roster.

Kicker Austin Seibert is listed as questionable due to a right hip injury, after limited participation in practice this week. Head coach Dan Quinn confirmed that Seibert kicked on Friday, though the team has also brought in kickers for a tryout. Offensive tackle Andrew is also questionable with a shoulder injury.

Newly acquired cornerback Marshon Lattimore will not be available for Sunday’s game, as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury and needs more time to adjust to the team’s defense. The Commanders will also be without tackle Cornelius Lucas for a second straight game due to an ankle injury. Rookie Brandon Coleman will continue in Lucas’s absence, earning praise for his performance against the Giants. Additionally, Colson Yankoff has been ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Despite these injuries, key players including Dorance Armstrong, Tyler Biadasz, Clelin Ferrell, Dante Fowler Jr., and Noah Igbinoghene are expected to be available for the Week 10 contest.
