“Breaking News: Gators’ Star Montrell Johnson Jr. Faces Major Setback with Knee Injury Requiring Surgery!”

After arthroscopic knee surgery, Florida running back Montrell Johnson Jr. is regarded as week to week, according to many sources on Saturday.

The Associated Press was informed by a source that Johnson suffered an injury during the first few days of training camp. The source stated that his operation was deemed mild and that he should recover in time for the Gators’ season opener in the Swamp on August 31 versus Miami, their in-state rival.
Johnson, a senior, led the Gators in running the previous two seasons after moving from Louisiana-Lafayette to Gainesville with head coach Billy Napier. In 2023, he ran for 817 yards and five touchdowns. In 2022, he ran for 841 yards and ten touchdowns.

After the 2017 season, Florida lost backup running back Trevor Etienne to Georgia, an SEC opponent. After suffering a serious knee injury, former Tulane standout Cam Carroll is not anticipated to return to the field.

To assist cover for him during training camp are Gators junior college transfer Ja’Kobi Jackson, sophomore Treyaun Webb, and freshman Jaden Baugh. During the spring game in April, Baugh rushed for 77 yards on 12 carries.
