Albion Rrahmani offers Rangers his final transfer answer.
The forward has been linked with a move to Ibrox this summer, but new Rapid Bucharest boss Lennon has been eager to retain his star player.
In-demand Albion Rrahmani has made it clear that he will only leave Rapid Bucharest for a top five European league, following discussions with new manager Neil Lennon.
The 23-year-old has likely ended speculation about a move to Rangers, who were reportedly monitoring the attacker after a successful season where he scored 17 goals for the Kosovo national team. Rangers’ director of football recruitment, Nils Koppen, had reportedly met with Rrahmani’s agency at the TransferRoom summit in Mexico earlier this month, suggesting a potential move to the Scottish Premiership.
However, Lennon, the former Celtic boss who recently took over at Rapid Bucharest, expressed his desire to keep Rrahmani for the upcoming Super Liga campaign, which begins this weekend against UTA Arad. It seems Lennon will get his wish, as Rrahmani indicated he is focused on staying with Rapid unless an offer comes from a top league like the English Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga, Ligue 1, or Serie A.
Speaking to the Romanian press before the season opener, Rrahmani stated, “I am here, focused 100 percent and I will fight for this team until the end. I will fight for the fans, for them to support us unconditionally. The new players are very good and we have a strong team now. Mr. Lennon is a very good coach, with a very good game philosophy, which will help us to be better and better.
“I hope to reach the top five leagues in Europe. If a team offers something interesting for the club, I will talk to Mr. (Dan) Sucu (Rapid Bucharest owner), and if the offer is also in the interest of the club, I will make a choice. For now, I am a Rapid player and I will give 100 percent for the team.”
